CSUF Library

To apply for conditional admission to California State University, Fullerton, the applicant must submit the following in original form:

  1. a completed American Language Program application;
  2. a $125.00 application fee for ALP, payable by check or international money order to CSUF;
  3. a completed CSUF application;
  4. a $55.00 application fee for CSUF, payable by check or international money order to CSUF;
  5. an affidavit of financial support signed by a sponsor (on page 11 of the CSUF application for Visa Students);
  6. a current, original bank document from the student's financial sponsor showing enough funds to cover all expenses for a minimum of one year, including tuition, living expenses, and medical insurance (a minimum of $25,000);
  7. complete transcripts of all high school or university work and certification of graduation.

All of these materials should be originals. Copies will not be acceptable. Materials must be submitted to the ALP for processing. The CSUF application, application fee, and transcripts will be forwarded to the Admissions Office for transcript evaluation. This review process takes 6 to 8 weeks for undergraduate applicants.

If the applicant is applying for graduate status, the application materials are additionally reviewed by the graduate advisor of the department of the student's major. Therefore, the entire review process for graduate applicants takes 8 to 10 weeks.

All transcripts must be in English and be accompanied by the original language transcripts, unless the educational or governmental institution itself issued the English language translation. Translations by outside agencies must be certified and accompany the original language transcripts.

If the applicant is approved for conditional admission, the ALP will issue an I-20 for 5 years (for undergraduate study) or 3 years (for graduate study) which will indicate the student's chosen major and degree objective. If the applicant is not eligible for conditional admission, an I-20 can still be issued for English study at the ALP. The I-20 for English study is valid for up to 2 years. After attending the ALP, a student can transfer to a university or college.

Please note that the application processing fees listed above are not refundable.

Sometimes, it is possible for a student to fulfill any missing requirements for entrance (such as a prerequisite course, a marginally low GPA, or a TOEFL or GMAT score) to Cal State Fullerton, while studying in the ALP.
