Requirements for Conditional Admission

CSUF

Undergraduate (55 majors): To receive a conditional admission for a Bachelor's program, a student must be academically qualified to be accepted. The only requirement which can be missing is a sufficient TOEFL score (Bachelor's: 500). Students who are missing any courses or have too low of a Grade Point Average (GPA), cannot receive a conditional admission. Conditional admission is valid for all of the undergraduate majors.

The American Language Program includes TOEFL preparation at all levels. If students are lacking a specific course(s), they may receive permission from the ALP to take that course while studying English, provided they are in Advanced Level 5 or 6. Some Level 6 students may take more university courses.

Graduate (50 majors): A standard graduate conditional admission is acceptable for all majors, except the following:

  • Biology
  • Business Administration (MBA)-Accounting, -Finance, -MSIS, -Marketing etc.
  • Chemistry
  • Communications
  • Psychology
  • Theater Arts

The Graduate advisor for the student's major will review transcripts to determine if any additional or prerequisite courses are needed. These courses will be listed on the admissions acceptance letter, if the student is accepted for a conditional admission by the graduate advisor/committee. Some departments may require a portfolio, audition recording, or some other materials, before making a decision.
