The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is used primarily by universities to help determine an applicant's ability to function in an academic setting in English. The American Language Program (ALP) at California State University, Fullerton (CSUF) offers the Institutional TOEFL exam to its students as an assessment measure within the ALP, as preparation for the Internet based TOEFL, and as a proficiency measure to be shown to a potential employer or university advisor.
Current students are welcome to apply for extra examination dates. The results of the test are applicable only at this university.
Two score reports are issued. One is sent to the test taker, and the other is given to CSUF Admissions and Records to be entered into the student database.
The ALP’s Intensive Academic English and Pre-MBA programs both include TOEFL preparation. Below are class dates for students who want additional instruction or only want instruction in TOEFL preparation.
The classes are divided into two segments: part I and part II. Both parts are not required, but are recommended by the instructor.
These classes are designed for students who already have a 475 Paper Based TOEFL or an equivalent level of academic English. These classes are not for beginning or intermediate level students.
TOEFL Preparation for the Institutional Paper-Based Test
Prepare for the TOEFL examination with a review of the test-taking strategies, exam structure, grammar, written expression, listening and reading skills necessary for a higher score on the paper-based examination.

Enrollment in TOEFL Preparation classes is limited to 18 students, so that each person can receive personal attention from the instructor. Class dates, test times and prices are subject to change. When applying, please verify time and date.
In order to enroll in a TOEFL examination, a student MUST be co-enrolled in a class offered by the American Language Program.

All CSUF Institutional TOEFL examinations and classes take place on the Cal State Fullerton campus. If you arrive late to the exam, you will forfeit your test space without refund or postponement. Test scores are usually available within three weeks. The score will be sent to the address on your application form. Duplicate copies of reports are not available.
Test times and prices are subject to change. When applying, please verify time and date. $20 of the test administration fee is refundable if requested in writing at least 24 hours before the examination date and time. Otherwise, no refund shall be given.
